Winning shoppers with the wow factor

City centre shoppers in Coventry are flocking in droves to a new Nisa convenience store that threw open its doors this month in a blaze of glory.

Nisa Millennium Way is a spanking brand new 1,800 sq. ft. store, situated on the ground floor of a purpose built £20-million building in the heart of the city.

With some 500 students living above the store in university accommodation, the footfall in the store is high and sales are growing daily.

Ricky Dougall, who runs the store alongside his siblings, said: “It’s early days for us but the signs are good. Students keep us very busy at all times of the day and we get a lot of passing traffic and late-night shoppers.”

It’s the family’s second Nisa store, their other being situated further outside the city and has been in the family for more than 30 years.

“Our other store is more of a community shop and we know all our customers. It is very different here and we are catering for a very different shopper which makes it interesting.”

Food to go and chilled are the key focus at Millennium View with baked goods selling at all hours of the day. Beers, wines and spirits is also a strong category.

The store is set into three key distinct areas – chilled, frozen and off licence – each having lighting, flooring and signage unique to the designated section.

And the fascia of the store is an eye-catching 3D design, that lights up at night and can be seen from afar by traffic on the city ring road.

“We absolutely love the store and the look that we have achieved. It has a premium feel to it, and we had lots of input into the design to make sure it was just how we want it,” said Ricky.
