Expanding services for the local community

A month after taking on a Post Office in their Worcestershire convenience store, brothers Siv and Anthony are already seeing increased footfall and rising sales.

The new Post Office counter was installed just 10 months after a full refurbishment of the shop in Witton, Droitwich to Nisa’s latest Evolution store format, but was done with little interruption and the end result has only reduced the original shop counter by a small amount.

Siv said: “It’s working really well for us. It’s the local Post Office now with the next nearest one a bit of a walk away and with no parking so people living round here are really grateful to have it in the store.

“And because we are open seven days a week, and there are so many services available through the Post Office, we are seeing a lot of people, including new faces through the door every day.”

The retailers are making the most of the opportunity to drive sales with promotions placed near the PO counter and impulse products such as confectionery and snacking on display to encourage shoppers to spend more.

“It has only been operating for a month so far but we are seeing an increase in shoppers and as we head towards Christmas and more and more people start sending cards and gifts we expect there to be a good increase both in shoppers and spending,” said Siv.

The official opening of the Post Office was carried out by the Mayor of Droitwich Spa, Cllr William Moy who cut the ribbon on 12th October in an official opening which included a community celebration to mark the event with refreshments, giveaways, a raffle and a bouncy castle for local children.

The Mayor who is also a customer at the store, said: “I want to congratulate Siv and Anthony for taking on Witton Post Office which is vital to this community. This is really good news for Nisa as it is a convenient location and the Post Office is now open daily.”
