Business is booming in McKenzie Street

Sales at a busy convenience store in Paisley have seen an annual increase of around 10 per cent year on year since the retailers first opened the store as a Nisa Local.

The 3,000 sq.ft. McKenzie Street store was purchased four years ago by Barry Hanif and his family who together form The Trinity Partnership.

Situated on a busy road with high levels of passing traffic and flanked on one side by residential housing and an industrial estate on the other, the shop enjoys footfall from both transient and regular shoppers and is a bustling store that is getting busier every year.

Barry Hanif explained: “What we did was take an already busy store, looked at the core range and sorted out the pricing to get it right for the people who are shopping here.

“As independent retailers we are able to work closely with our customers to make sure we are stocking the products they want and at the prices they can afford.

“More recently we have been adding in the Co-op own label range in and shoppers are really keen on the products.”

As well as Costa coffee and a newly installed Skwishee machine, the store boasts an in-store food to go counter service that attracts shoppers selling a wide range of hot pastries and pies as well as filled baguettes, sandwiches and soup, all under the store’s “deli” brand.

“We do really well on the “deli” counter and try to offer a good choice so there is something for everyone. It gets people into the store and works well for us,” added Barry.
